Thailand’s Paperless Border Experience Explained

Thailand’s new Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is a mandatory online form for all foreign visitors starting May 1, 2025, replacing the paper TM6 card. Submit your information up to 72 hours before arrival for a smoother entry process, regardless of visa status or port of entry.

What is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card?

Introduced to streamline border processing and bolster security, the TDAC is a digital entry requirement for everyone except Thai nationals, transit passengers who do not clear immigration, or those entering with a Border Pass. It is not a visa; a separate visa (if required) must be arranged before travel. The card can be completed free of charge on the official immigration portal.

Who Needs to Complete It?

  • All non-Thai passport holders entering by air, land, or sea—including tourists, business travellers, and long-term residents.
  • Every member of a family group must register individually, though the system allows for joint applications.

How Does it Work?

  • Register at https://tdac.immigration.go.th at least 3 days before travel.
  • Provide required details: passport and personal data, travel itinerary, accommodation, and health declaration.
  • After approval, save or print the confirmation QR code to present to immigration officers on arrival.
  • Completing the TDAC in advance is strongly recommended to avoid border delays, though on-arrival facilities will be available.

What Replaced the TM6 Form?

The TDAC fully replaces the old TM6 paper card, bringing a convenient, digital-first approach to entering Thailand. It is essential for ensuring fast, secure entry and supporting Thailand’s public health and security objectives, making your arrival easier than ever before.
